Sensory Learning

SL Logo 2The Sensory Learning Program, founded by Mary Bolles, is a non-cognitive, non-invasive, foundational therapy that uses light, sound and motion to stimulate the visual, auditory and vestibular systems simultaneously, in order to improve sensory function.  Although we are not working with specific labels, we do find that children and adults that have been diagnosed with Autism, Aspergers, ADD/ADHD, Speech Delays, PDDNOS, Anxiety and Depression, experience improvements with perception and the ability to learn.

Passionate about helping children that struggle with learning and behavior, Dr. Schmakel was more than excited to bring the Sensory Learning Program to Toledo in September of 2008.  For the past 15 years, Dr. Schmakel has had amazing results with his Vision Improvement Program (VIP) but was always frustrated by the fact that there was a population of children and adults that he was unable to reach. Where the VIP program is very cognitive in nature, requiring a lot of mental processing activities, the Sensory Learning Program is very non-cognitive in nature only requiring the participant to receive the light, sound and motion modalities.
