Light Therapy
A child with visually related learning problems, many times has a reduced or restricted visual field. Because the visual field is reduced, the amount of visual information a person can see and understand is affected. Symptoms of a reduced or restricted visual field are; words moving, skipping words or lines, poor spatial awareness, poor eye-hand coordination, clumsiness and an overall “unaware” type appearance.
Behavioral optometrists have used light therapy or syntonics for over 70 years to treat eye disorders and learning problems. Dr. Schmakel introduced light therapy into his practice and has been very excited with the positive effects it has when used in conjunction with The Vision Improvement Program (VIP).
